Michelle Byrne, Ph.D.

Dr. Byrne is a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Oregon. She completed her PhD at The University of Melbourne, Australia, in 2013, under the mentorship of Professor Nicholas Allen. Her background is in psychoneuroimmunology, brain development, and mental health in children and adolescents, and she has expertise in techniques for assaying salivary inflammatory markers. Her current work focuses on developmental models of neural mechanisms in the association between immune functioning and depression, and how sensitive periods of brain development and pubertal timing and tempo can affect the relationship between physical and mental health. She has particular interest in longitudinal datasets and analyses.
